Creating the frame for card collectors
by Ricardo Evangelho, CEO of Hit Point Press and creator of the Frameamajig
Trading cards are more than just pieces of paper: they are collectables, game pieces and educational tools. Cards represent us, our hobbies, our memories, and our experiences. They are art.
As an avid card collector, I had a desire to showcase my cards as I would a painting. Custom framing was too expensive and I wanted a ready-made solution that looked nice. With no sophisticated framing options available that also protected my collection, I set out to create an attractive, bespoke frame to display my cherished cards.
Tackling a market gap
This personal need spawned the idea for the Frameamajig, a premium wood frame that allows you to show off your collectable cards in style. The frames use an easy-to-swap one-touch magnetic case so you can quickly access your cards or swiftly adjust your decor.
It’s game night and you’re having your fantasy league over. Swap out your Pokémon cards for your favorite sports cards by sliding the protective case out of the top of the frame.

Since launching the product, Frameamajigs were featured in two Gallery Nucleus’s Art in Miniature exhibitions, Magic: the Gathering painted artist proof shows. Backed by avid card collectors and stores, the Frameamajig Kickstarter raised over $100,000 for the initial production run. In 2024, Frameamajigs was recognized with an Origin Award for Best Game Accessory.
What’s next?
Hit Point Press is actively prototyping a follow-up framing solution for graded cards, which we hope to preview later this year. Keep an eye out for them! In the meantime, Frameamajigs are available through most distributors and are a sensible product for any collectible store.
In addition to Frameamajigs, Hit Point Press publishes tabletop roleplaying games and gaming accessories. Best known for their award-winning brands such as Humblewood and Animated Spells, Hit Point Press has raised over 10 million dollars on Kickstarter. Learn more at hitpointpress.com. Questions?
