    Fight, die, repeat

    Character Creation

At the start of the game, each player chooses an archetype to play. Each archetype comes with two questions that solidify your backstory and relationship with other characters.

The six core archetypes for One Last Fight are:

    • Astrologer: A mysterious diviner with a grand destiny to follow—or deny.
    • Heavy: A loyal warrior who bears burdens greater than themself.
    • Illusionist: A clever magician specializing in trickery and deception.
    • Knight: A steadfast fighter whose faith drives them.
    • Scoundrel: A notorious gadgeteer with a criminal past.
    • Witch: A wise enchanter with unorthodox methods.

Each character has three stats: Heart, Power, and Soul. As resources are earned and spent these stats change throughout the game. Each stat has a die associated with it in order to track these changes.

The characters of One Last Fight are hardened survivors who have shouldered the burden of defeating an evil Nemesis threatening to destroy their world. One Last Fight offers the chance to play an experienced, competent adventurer with many battles behind them, and only one remaining.

Each character has unique skills and abilities that make them better suited to different challenges. One Last Fight rewards you for leaning into your character’s expertises and solidifying their role as part of a well-rounded party.

    Nefarious Nemeses

At the center of every game of One Last Fight is the Nemesis the characters are facing. The final conflict with their Nemesis will push the adventurers to their very limit. The six available core nemeses are:

    • Cult: A legion of followers, spreading the malevolent message of a dark entity.
    • Demon Lord: A violent, demonic being, hellbent on dominating the world.
    • Dragon: A creature of scale and flame, scouring the land for treasure and worshippers.
    • Necromancer: A wizard who has extended their life beyond death with profane rituals and evil magic.
    • Sorcerer: A potent spellcaster calling on dark energies beyond mortal understanding.
    • World Eater: An unknowable god drifting through the void, consuming whole worlds with cold indifference.

Each Nemesis comes with a set of questions that players answer as a group. These questions help flesh out the characters’ relationship to the nemesis and personalize them to their story.

As the characters encounter the Nemesis repeatedly throughout the game, they gain opportunities to learn more about them and adjust their tactics. This is represented bu Insight, a stat that influences the number of dice a character can roll when the time comes to face the Nemesis for the final time.

    Build Your Experience

One Last Fight’s gameplay loop involves drawing cards from a deck. The deck contains Challenge cards, which represent obstacles in your path to the final boss, and Moment cards, which represent reprieve from battle.

Before you begin, you randomly determine the Challenge and Moment cards in your deck, which will only be revealed when you draw them. The deck is structured to align with the three phases of the game, with the challenges becoming increasingly harder as you progress.

When you draw a Challenge card, you may find yourself being ambushed by an old foe, confronting a monstrous creature, or lost in a labyrinth. There’s no telling what dangers you’ll face until you’re right in the action.

When you draw a Moment card, you may find the chance to rest or heal, but you may also awaken an ancient curse. These moments of respite are a break from outright fighting, but they aren’t always peaceful.

    Gather Loot and Resources

You’ll need to power up to have a chance at defeating the Nemesis. Challenges have the chance to offer Loot, resources, and more. You may find healing items, weapons, riches, or artifacts from bygone days. But the essence of their former owners whispers to you, and it’s up to you if you listen.

    Three Phases

One Last Fight is played in three phases:

    • I: Approach
    • II: Lair
    • III: End

Each phase grants a Nemesis Challenge, which is more difficult than a standard Challenge card and is unique to the Nemesis selected during setup.

One Last Fight ends when the Slay Them! card is resolved, or if all the characters have died. Slay Them! is always the final card in the deck and represents the final challenge posed by the Nemesis.

    You Live, or You Die

There are only two ways for One Last Fight to end: either the Nemesis is defeated, or all characters have perished on their journey. You can describe how the journey to defeat the Nemesis changed your character, and honor the fallen, or you can describe how the world has irrevocably changed now the heroes have passed on.

    Solo or Group?

One Last Fight can be played as an individual experience or with a group of friends. As a single adventurer, you fight the Nemesis alone and build your deck using only the solo challenge cards. Multiplayer games include a mix of both solo challenges, which are attempted on a player’s turn, and party challenges, that are attempted together.

    Expand Your Experience

One Last Fight offers many ways to enhance the gameplay and carry your adventuring spirit with you in everyday life.

One Last Fight: Heavy Metal Edition

The Heavy Metal edition of One Last Fight contains everything from the standard game, along with premium foil treatment for the cards and character boards, and a metal Insight tracker that replaces the cardboard one from the standard game.
