Riffin is the face of the Humblewood setting, designed for use with the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. But who is Riffin, and what role does he play in the world of Humblewood? Who is Riffin in Humblewood?

Riffin is a valiant strig (owlfolk) knight. He’s originally from the small town of Ashbarrow, and was rescued by his friend Odwald when the village burned. In Alderheart, Riffin is known as the “Ash-Knight,” in honor of his being one of the few knights from Ashbarrow. Riffin strongly believes in doing good, helping others, and honoring his debts.

What is Riffin like?

Riffin is a hero and a mighty ally, whose skill and prowess are on full display during fights. He's a steadfast warrior and helps player characters in combat. He will even shield struggling characters, preventing them from taking hits in fights. Riffin is a capable tactician who can divert the flow of battle so that the party can focus on fighting enemies their own size.

Where can players meet Riffin?

The first opportunity to meet Riffin is during a surprise encounter when characters are resting in Alderheart at night. If characters don’t meet him here, Riffin hangs out at various inns and taverns in Alderheart, and he can play a crucial role ahead of a climactic battle.
